news story pitches

Studying Abroad

Dear fellow students,

As I and many other students wondered through the study abroad fair a few days ago I heard many people with unanswered questions. Although there are many tables set up to answer these questions students still felt unsure.
I propose a news story that will get the facts about studying abroad. Is it really worth the time and money? Would it be cheaper to visit these places on your own? How much does it REALLY cost? In most cases these questions are answered vaguely by someone who is promoting their destination. I want to find out what places are the cheapest to attend and what places are the most worthwhile.
I will also explore other options for students who want to travel but don’t necessarily want to take courses overseas. One such example of this would be traveling to Thailand with the ORC.

Golf course

Dear fellow students,

Pullman will soon have a new and improved golf course this Fall. This news article would examine the Pros and Cons of the new course and give different perspectives from students, faculty and community members.
I would also try to find out what exactly is being renovated and the real cost to the students and the community.
Our rivals University of Washington also have a golf course. I would compare their golf course, Washington National with our new renovated course.
Washington National is one of the top golf courses in the Northwest which might have a correlation with the success of their golf team. I want to look into this to see if that could have an impact on WSU’s golf team.

Circle K club

Dear fellow students,

This Thursday will be the first meeting for the Circle K club. This is a small group of students who raise money for the less fortunate.
Students complain frequently about the lack of things to do around the Palouse and many of them are unaware of the rewarding activities that are available. This article will give in depth information about the club and its upcoming challenges. It will also give some personal experiences from the members in the club and possibly someone who they have helped.
Many people do not know about this club and have no idea what they do. This next meeting they will be to discuss a clothing drive and how to get students and the community involved. Not only will this story give the club exposure, but it will give students knowledge about how to help the community while building their resume.
Thank you for the consideration of this article.
